Hi there. Your OB is at least sort of on track. They are right about
estrogen however, ALL synthetic hormones are linked to cancer of some
sort (proven in trial studies). I don't think women with endo should be
on ANY synthetic hormones of ANY KIND to "help" their cycles. Actual
birth control is another story.
Women without endo it seems can tolerate synthetic hormones such as the
pill without having major sypmtoms or consequences later in life. If a
doctor suspects that a woman has endo in the beginning of puberty, he
should NEVER prescribe synthetic hormones. It seemed to cause a domino
effect with me and I just had one problem after another. I now have to
take the progesterone every day or ALL my terrible symptoms return.
