Re: Help please to ElizabethFrom: andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jul 9 18:49:59 2007
Hi Elizabeth, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through the same thing we are, but glad you found this forum for support you need! I've been on here for about 2 months. It is wonderful to talk to such nice, supportive women and you won't feel alone in what you are going through. You can get advice on here before you just listen to some doctor who only offers you things you don't want to take or try. I'm sorry that doctor you saw was such a jerk and upset you! Many and many doctors have made me feel like that in the past, giving me no hope, treating me like I was stupid, crazy or exaggerating my symptoms. I have been recommending to everyone to get their hormones tested and then get them balanced with natural hormones before going to such extremes as Lupron or having surgery. Taking natural hormones got rid of most of my nasty symptoms 4 years ago, but I am still left with 2-3 days of bad pain during my period. Now, I am debating on whether or not to have a lap surgery done. I have not met anyone yet who has been completely "cured" by a lap, so I don't know if I want to risk causing other internal problems and spending all that money if I can't get significant relief. Let me know if you'd like to go this route & get your hormones tested before you do anything extreme... Unfortuantely, part of what that doctor told you is true. Once you have endo, I think it will always be there to a certain degree, but you need to get it to a level that is managable for you and somehow cope with it. I have pain similar to yours and I think it is due to the extreme inflammation in our pelvis and our colon. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is common among women with endo, because endo may be on our bowels as well. I take Bentyl, an anti-spazm medicine for my bowels right before my period and it keeps that extreme pressure from building up. I also take Arnica Montana, an herbal anti-inflammatory, herbal progesterone (150mg) and 10mg Lortab the first couple days of my period. And the sharp pain, well, I think all the swelling sometimes screws with our sciatic nerve in our lower back - feels like a sharp pinching. I found a specialist in Alabama for you, however I am reluctant to trust many conventional docs now because most of them don't believe in natural hormone replacement and that is the only thing that has ever helped me. Please read what I wrote on July 7th, about "The Cause of Endo" and let me know if you have any of those symptoms. Let me know what you think. You may just need your hormones balanced to feel better. Hope I helped. Andrea :) http://www.obgyn.net/meet.asp?page=/all_advisors/CP_Perry
