Lupron manufacturers were sued for bribing doctors to prescribe itFrom: andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jul 7 23:04:41 2007
Please look at this if you have taken or are taking Lupron! Wow. Found this page today... TAP Pharmaceuticals, the company that manufactures Lupron was sued in 2000 for bribing doctors to prescribe it. They were found guilty and the doctors who were discovered doing this were charged with healthcare fraud. You think doctors and that company are still doing that? Why are they still allowed to be in business? They gave the doctors "free samples", then the doctors their patients big bucks! That explains why so many doctors over the years have been shoving it in our faces! I have always known that doctors get some kind of kickback for all the drugs they prescribe. Do any of them really care about our health? This is just a portion of what the article reads.... The entire amount of the $290 million criminal fine paid by TAP will go to the Department of Justice's Crime Victims Fund. The indictment charges that the TAP defendants offered to give things of value, including free drugs, so-called educational grants, trips to resorts, free consulting services, medical equipment, and forgiveness of debt, to physicians and other customers to obtain their referrals of prescriptions for Lupron to Medicare program beneficiaries, in violation of the anti-kickback statute.
