Re: Anyone else ever taken Lupron and Aygestin?

Hi there,

In the past 3 years I've tried Lupron at two different points. The first time, as in your case, it didn't work. The second time I tried it I took it for two months and had to stop b/c of the terrible and long lasting side effects (i.e. joint pain). I've got some concerns about what your doctor said about if the Lupron with Aygestin doesn't work something else may be wrong. First of all if you read some of the entries on this forum you will find that Lupron doesn't work for many. Before I took Lupron I read the original clinical studies of the women that the drug was tested on and again I think only 50% had reduced pelvic pain. My main concern is that it is a small minority of people who have long-term pain relief from using Lupron. I think that is the HUGE misconception is that doctors push it as some miracle drug when the reality is far from it. Most women try it and it may provide relief short-term but b/c you are only supposed to take it for a max of 6 months it is short lived. I actually was pain free for the 2 months I tried Lupron for the second time but what I found (like soooo many other women) was that my pain immediately returned two months after stopping the treatment and it was just as bad as before. Lupron is not a cure (there is no "cure" for endo) its merely a band-aid. If Lupron ends up not working for you that does not necessarily mean something else is wrong with you.
