Re: Breast pain on add back therapy

Hi Jill -

My understanding is that breast pain/swelling is a common side effect of the Aygestin (a progestin, or artificial progesterone), and it will continue as long as you are taking it. Have you talked to your doctor? Maybe they can try a lower dosage, or a different type of progestin?

I haven't tried it as add-back, but I've been on birth control pills that had norethindrone (same thing as Aygestin) and I had a similar reaction. My breasts went up at least a cup size and hurt so bad! I did much better on a pill that had levonorgestrel for the progestin - perhaps it's possible for you to try something like that?

Hope this helps!
