Re: Adenomyosis Symptoms? to StephanieFrom: Cari (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Jun 8 18:25:48 2007
Hi Stephanie, I am sorry to hear you are dealing with this so young. My periods were never easy, but I was always able to pop a couple of Advil and feel ok...not so much anymore. I will be 40 next month, I still don't feel old enough to be dealing with all of this drama... BUT, I was just diagnosed with adenomyosis a month ago. I already was diagnosed with stave IV endo but my second lap confirmed a suspicion of adeno as well. My uterus had been a bit large on every ultrasound and "globular" as well. Also, my lining was usually quite a bit thickened at any given time in my cycle. From what I gather, a hysteroscopy can aid in diagnosis, this is a viewing of your uterus via cope etc. My symptoms include extremely severe cramping right before and during my period and very heavy bleeding along with passing of some not so pretty clots during menstruation (so sorry for the details). I take strong pain meds that sometimes don't even help the cramping believe it or not. However, I am very conservative with my medication usage. I have discovered recently that an anti-inflammatory called Lodine helps quite a lot. I also avoid sugar near my period and eat organic as much as I can. Pain for me is the hallmark and it is often so bad I have a hard time walking, no joke. I will have my uterus out next year to deal with the adeno more directly. Hopefully I was of some use...
