With this disease we have all felt hopeless, scared, isolated, frustrated....but I'm telling you DON'T GIVE UP! There is hope! Stay determined and don't let a doctor tell you what to do if you are not comfortable with them. Find someone you trust and someone who will give you better options than a hysterectomy or dangerous, cancer causing drugs! Forget the LUPRON and the HORSE PEE PILLS! (Prempro and Premarin) It's taken me 20 years, 10 doctors later, tons of research and thousands of dollars later, but I think I have finally found a healthy combinations of drugs that make my period bearable for the first time, and I want to share it with you. I am 36 and have always had severe pain with my periods, even on the pill. And I don't think the pill did diddly squat to help my endo and I took it for 17 years!! It felt like labor pains and like everything was going to fall out of me for 4 days. I had to sit on the toilet and bare down and sweat & cry til the vicodin kicked in the first day. I was also having hot flashes, abnormal bleeding, major mood swings, fibroid cysts in my breasts, chronic yeast infections....you name it! Then 3 years ago an alternative medicine doctor recommended BIOIDENTICAL PROGESTERONE. He is the only doctor I have been to who actually tested my hormones to see what was wrong. My progesterone was only a 2, when it should be around a 20! And another hormone (SGBH) was a 253, when it should have been around 80. Most docs want to just stick you on an antidepressant and forget about you!! I tried it and within a month, the hot flashes, abnormal bleeding, mood swings and period pain lessened by 2 days. The fibroid cysts in my breasts all disappeared or shrunk. And best of all, no more yeast infections! If you are deficient in progesterone, you get chronic yeast infections and get easily depressed. 150mg of Bioidential Progesterone is equivilent to only 3 or 4mg of synthetic progesterone and progesterone supresses estrogen - the very thing that makes endo grow!! The BC pill's estrogen stimulates the endo, so I don't know where all these docs get the idea that being on the pill would help our endo!! Most conventional doctors don't believe in it or think that it works, because there aren't many studies on it. This is because it is a natural substance and it cannot be patented, therefore the big drug companies cannot fund research on it or make money on it. They would rather you buy their expensive horse-pee pills, Mirena, Lupron, etc..... Everyone I know who has taken it says it is a true miracle pill. Name another pill that gets rid of all those symtoms with NO SIDE EFFECTS!! I asked one doc that and he just stared with a blank look on his face!! lol I still was having the 2 days of severe inflammation and pain (but better than 4) Then just a month ago, I talked to an aunt of mine who said she always had the same symtoms!! A doctor told her to try Bentyl, an anti-spazmotic drug for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Most of us with Endometriosis also have IBS. But my last period, I did not have that unbearable inflammation or severe pain that I have always had! It was actually the least painful period I HAVE EVER HAD!! You need a prescription for Bentyl though, but the good news is, it's only $7.00 generic price for 60 of them! Take 2 right when you feel the pressure starting and it goes away within 20 minutes. The only side effect I've had from it is drowsiness. Try these, I swear they will help! A good natural anti- inflammatory that I also take is called ARNICA MONTANA. It relieves inflammation during periods without having any side effects. You can get it at WHOLE FOODS OR THE VITAMIN SHOPPE. It comes in pill form and drops. I took it for 3 days before I had a cosmetic surgery done on my eyes, thinking I was still going to look like I was in a boxing match afterwards, but the Arnica made me have no swelling or bruising. It ALSO WORKS FOR PERIODS!! This is about $5.00. I currently take BIOIDENTICAL PROGESTERONE 150mg a day, $30 a bottle (made from yams and soybeans), BENTYL, ARNICA MONTANA and unfortunatley still need to take a few VICODIN for 2 days. But before, I took about 10-14 pain pills over 2 days! If you are not comfortable with a doctor, or feel they don't really listen to you, GO TO SOMEONE ELSE!
