Re: FRUSTRATED...ANYONE ELSE???????

Yes, I think Candace has it right, basically most obgyns don't understand endo, therefore they don't want to deal with it. They know they don't know how to remove it properly, and while I think it's shamefully lazy of them not to learn how, I also prefer that if a doctor doesn't have the skills, they be upfront about it. There are a lot of obgyns out there who are oh-so-happy to take your money for burning the tops off a few lesions and leaving you in continuing pain - I reserve most of my scorn for that sort!

I would research this "specialist" she is sending you to and make sure they are skilled at thoroughly excising endo - if the obgyn doesn't know endo, they may not either. For the pain, I would try talking to the obgyn again and if she still won't help you, ask her for a referral to pain management. If she won't give you a referral, try your PCP. (Of course if you can, refer yourself!)

There were several threads earlier today regarding hysterectomies (NOT a cure!), specialists, and pain management, so I also recommend reading those, and if you read further back in the forum I'm sure you'll find more women in situations similar to your own - and hopefully good ideas about what helped them that can also help you! Finding the right doctors is REALLY important...
