Possibility of surgery (May be TMI for others)

This month I had something very strange happen. I had straight rectal bleeding.. I thought that it was my period.. I put in a tampon and nothing was on the tampon. It was all coming from my rectum. The very next day I started my period. The rectal bleeding continued through my period, and it lasted one and a half days after. Then completely stopped. Hasn't happened since. I went to my doctor today because of an ear infection and a swollen lymph node in my jaw area. We had talked about the rectal bleeding as well. We're going to wait and see if it happens again next month. If it does, he will probably be referring me to an OB/GYN to probably get another surgery. Now he's also considering the fact that maybe these bowel problems I've been having for 2 years now have been related to endometriosis the entire time.

Does anyone here think that surgery may help me? Does it sound like this is the endometriosis? If anyone has had similar things happen please let me know. :) Thanks again!!
