Re: Hi everyone...some questionsFrom: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed May 2 21:47:32 2007
Hello, You will find that a great deal of us have to deal with bowel problems in addition to the endo. Endo causes an inflammatory response that aggravates the intestines (They are VERY sensitive). Endo can cause adhesions to grow around the bowel or can even grow on the intestines itself causing more problems. It can be hard to determine whether a women is suffering from endo alone, a bowel problem only or both. Commonly, women will seek help from a GI doctor as well. Most tests will not reveal if endo is on the bowels or if it is the cause. Sometimes it will cause enough of an obstruction for it be visualized (Especially if it is that time of month!) or it can be seen if has grown all the way through the bowel wall into the inner layer (not as common). The tests can rule out other bowel problems though. I wish the answer could be more clear, I hope you are able to get help for this. I was diagnosed just before I turned 19 so know it is frustrating to have to face it again.
