Re: My daughterFrom: D (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Apr 30 20:36:23 2007
Sounds like endo, but they may want to do more tests before they do a lap - mainly to rule out other problems, as endo does not show up on reliably on them. If the gyn thinks it's endo, she'll have to do a lap to know for sure. They may suggest Lupron as a diagnostic, but reaction to Lupron cannot diagnose endo definitively. Hopefully that won't even come up! Just in case, you might want to read this: If a lap is suggested, there are more questions to ask - like you'll need to know what method the doctor uses to remove the endo. Burning it off is ineffective, and it often grows back when only the tops of the lesions are removed. It's important that the doctor be experienced at recognizing and excising endo from anywhere they find it - otherwise your daughter may be looking at another surgery more sooner than later. The Endo Research Center has some good free materials available through their yahoo group, including publications on how to talk to your doctor, what to expect from a lap, etc. There's a link to the yahoo group at the bottom of this post and their web site is: I hope this helps! D.
