Re: Dealing with Endo Diagnosis

I was diagnosed in 1997 when I was 17-I was told at that time if I want children as badly as I did-I should start trying (my doctor was well aware I had already been with my partner-husband now-for four years). We did-there were a few periods of time when I had to go on birth control to control my period, but when I just turned 20 (on my birthday) I said a little prayer, and made my wish-I said that God will allow me to be a mother when he is ready, and if he is never ready-then there are a lot of children out there that need a home. That night my husband made me a romantic dinner, and we cuddled on the couch (well you know what that led to-afterwards he said-hopefully we made a baby tonight). We did. My first lap was really not bad-I took 2 weeks off of work and school and I was so antsy to get back. My second lap-5 years after the first revealed a large amount-that was cut out (excised) and cauterized (burned w/a lazer)-I thought I could go back in less than a week-boy-do not push it. Give yourself some time to heal. I don't know about anyone else, but the worst part about that surgery is this gas they put into your abdomin to make everything easier to get at-it has to come out some way-for me it sat in my shoulders for like 4 days-once that passes-there is a huge relief. After the surgery I had lupron injections for 6 months (that was worse than the surgery-and I am not necessarily convinced that it works). After finishing the lupron I went on birth control for 6 months, and we decided to try for another child-bingo-3 weeks later we were expecting our beautiful baby boy. So we are blessed with an 8 year old daughter and 2 year old son. In my eyes if done properly I believe that a laparoscopy can help you concieve. So don't give up on your dreams of having the pitter pattering of little feet. Best of Luck with everything.
