Re: Lap done today and NOT GIVEN ANY PAIN MEDS

I was not given any pain meds for my lap. I was only given Toradol when
I got out of the OR. Later I asked for something and was told sorry.
That is all you can have. I happened to have some Darvocet at home that
took the edge off of it. I used the Darvocet for a week plus max
motrin. I eventually pulled my records to see that I was originally
prescribed, 5mgs of Lortab on my OR signout sheet (WHICH I NEVER
RECEIVED) and then on my discharge paperwork from the nurse, it said
600mg Motrin. Probably if I had not have had the Darvocet, I would have
been calling for painmeds. I did end up in the ER for a uterine
infection a few days later and was offered a rx for a painkiller, but I
turned it down.
Since then, I have discovered that I actually have a high tolerance for
pain (according to my ortho and pcp). I couldn't imagine having a low
tolerance for pain and dealing with it. Since I had my knee worked on,
I have gotten all kinds of rx for Lortab. I don't take them all the
time, only when pain is really bad. I have saved some for when I go off
the pill in October cause I know that will be excruciating.
