The short answer is that it depends. An oncologist performed my initial lap but did not laser the endometriosis presumably b/c he was not experienced (I am thankful that he did not try). That is not to say that no oncologist could perform the surgery; my understanding of surgery is that it depends on the skills and experiences of the individual surgeon. In my experience, reproductive endocrinologists seem to be the most knowledgeable and experienced in dealing with endometriosis. Hope this helps.
