Re: Fever and stitch abscess?

If there is leakage of pus or foul smelling liquid from the incision, and the incision is small (like a laparoscopy incision), then application of 1/2 strength hydrogen peroxide (half peroxide and half tap water) using a QTIP or cotton ball no more than once a day is usually fine. Alternatively, 1/2 or full strength betadine is usually effective. The incision should not cause a fever. If you have a fever, then the surgeon needs to see you to rule out more significant problems than a minor skin infection.

Good Luck
