The pain relief can be almost immediate and can be very significant, when the endometriosis lesions are completely vaporized. However, there is a brain "gate" phenomena that allows some women to feel pain even after the painful stimulus is removed (like "phantom hand pain" that some orthopedic patients feel even after their entire diseased arm is amputated - sorry not meaning to be gory or gross). I have found that if the pain relief is not very significantly better within 2-3 months then it usually doesn't get better. You might need to consider a 2nd opinion to review more aggressive surgical removal or medical management.

Good Luck! I know that chronic pain is very difficult to live with.
