Re: 19 with Endo.. How fast can it come back? From: Jess (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Apr 24 16:48:57 2007
Hey Kari, I understand what you're going through and I'm feeling your pain. I'm 21 and my first of 2 laproscopies was in 2005. I am still having so much trouble with it and trying everything i can to kick it in the ass. So first of all, your symptoms are definitely common. Before I know I had endo, BM's were close to the worst part. I don't want to try to tell you what to do but here is my advice and the paths i have taken and you can take it for what its worth. :) I hope it helps!! Most of the pain we experience from endo is because of inflammation and bloating. At the most simple level, definitely think about changing your diet. for starters, try to keep a really healthy diet and eat lean. I've found that a lot of veggies or other foods that may give you gas should definitely be avoided! Also if you aviod wheat and dairy products and anything that will cause your body to bloat---yeah I know its hard---I found it helps so much. I had read about it then finally tried it and it really does help with the pain and also with the BM's. It is really hard to do but its totally worth it if it reduces the pain. Also, when you eat, try taking ibuprofen or something like it. anti inflammatories with meals seems miniscule, but it helps! I know you said that the docs are trying to get you on something that will stop your periods...I was on depot lupron for 6 mos--it is basically like drug induced menopause. The side effects are what you would think menopause is like, but I didn't have pain from the endo, so you have to weigh the pros and cons personnally. Think about trying it out, you might be surprised. I'm going back on it next week because my symptoms come back bad after like 4 weeks of being off it. Talk to your doctor about the different kinds--they're called 'progestins'. I'm sorry you're feeling down, just know that you're not alone. I know it sounds lame but seriously. Try to be positive and have a positive outlook on the whole thing. It is shitty, and its unfair that you've been through so much. But it will help you mentally and physically to just totally commit yourself to helping yourself feel better. Do everything you can and when you do go to the dr, if you have ANY questions, even if they seem irrelevant, ask them. The more you know about whats going on, the easier it will be for you to handle and to fight it. Good luck hon J
