Mood swings and depressed mood are not uncommon on depo provera, and it wears off in 3 (or more) months! I often trial provera for patients interested in this medication (rare but sometimes happens) with oral doses of 30mg a day of provera, which is supposed to give similar side effects as the shot. If the pills have bad side effects then I don't even consider the injection.

Good Luck. Seems like a 2nd opinion may be in order (hysterectomy??). If in NJ, I would be happy to try to help you.
