I had a Mirena for four years and absolutely loved it...after a few months of spotting, which was a pain but not so bad, i had very light or nonexistent periods for years. I think I may have bought just one box of tampons and couldn't even use them...It greatly reduced my cramping and heavy bleeding as well. I recently had it removed because of severe pelvic pain which turned out to be endometrioma of my left ovary. I just had surgery last week to remove the ovary. However, they initially thought it might be the Mirena or a pelvic infection so it was the first thing to come out. I am going to ask my doc to put in a new one after i recover from my surgery. Maybe I'm lucky, but I had a great experience. Hope this helps!
