It varies, but they usually give vicodin or something similar. You should get the prescription and fill it before the surgery - you do not want to have to go to the pharmacy after your lap!

You also may want to ask them before they knock you out to give you some medicine so you don't vomit when you wake up - a lot of people get nauseous after surgery.
