Re: Lupron anyone? Little more info I forgotFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Apr 13 09:05:51 2007
Jill, I just replied back to you with a positive experience but wanted to add a few things: 1. I have not seemed to have any long term side effects from Lupron. I did the first round in 2000 and second in 2004 so I think if there were long term issues for me, I would know by now. 2. Because Lupron will initially cause the ovaries to surge estrogen until they figure out they are supposed to stop estrogen production (this is how my doctor relayed it to me), the pain may initially get worse. I would have a pretty bad period within a few days of the shot and the pain seemd to flare for a week or two before it subsided completely. Once I stopped the shots and went back on my normal birth control, my period returned right on time three weeks later and was normal, not heavy or painful. 3. If you don't take add back therapy as well, make sure you get plenty of calcium and Vitamin D. I make a point to eat lots of yogurt (I'm not big on milk) and take a supplement. An easy way to get calcium is to eat two Tums, twice a day. My family doctor has told me to do this daily just due to being a woman. OK! Think that's all I have to say! Between this response and my earlier one, I could write a book! Hugs! Amy Meyer
