Advice on dexascanFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon Apr 9 14:06:17 2007
Hello, All, I just wanted to run something by you all for your thoughts? I was diagnose with microscopic endometriosis ten years ago. I'm 29. I've had three laps so far. Recently, the pain in my left side, directly above my ovary, has returned. I tend to get about 2 or 3 years out of laps before I'm back in surgery. When I spoke with my OB/GYN, I insisted on a dexascan. (My insurance may not cover it.) I was on Depo Provera for three or four years (the last year I had the three month shot given every 6-8 weeks). I was on Depo Lupron for six months from July 04-Dec 04 with no add back therapy. I have been on Seasonale and Seasonique for the past year or so since about July 05. Am I insane for asking for a Dexascan? I suggested that I go back on Lupron, as it helped me the first time around, and I'm more than willing to put up with hot flashes and headaches if it'll get me to the point that I can walk upright again. BUT, before I agree to the Lupron again, I thought it wise to get a dexascan? Any thoughts? Also, does anyone know how I'll know what the results mean? I would hope they'd tell me if I had osteopina or osteoporosis, and my understanding is that as long as your numbers are +1 you're okay? Any help anyone can give would be wonderful. Thank you for your help! Julie
