Re: Titled UterusFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue Apr 3 08:53:09 2007
Hello, Ladies, I, too, have a "tipped" or tilted uterus. I never thought much of it until recently. My OB/GYN has been reviewing my last lap report (2 years ago), and he told me that my uterus is tipped enough that it's laying very close to, or on top of my bowel. I have always had diahrreah and constipation, especially around my period, so it never occurred to me that this was an abnormal thing. He looked at my chart and realized that I had been complaining of the bowel problems for ten years, and put me on Levbid(antispasmodic) and told me to stop eating gluten and diary. (That's been interesting). BUT, the medication and diet change have helped with the bowel problems. Unfortunately, the pain in my left side has been there for six weeks, every day, and will continue to get worse until I end up in surgery again. I'm a little frustrated with the cycle, but I don't have the money to drop on an endo specialist, and my current doc managed to control my pain for more than two years, which is better than anyone before him has done. (I've only been with him for two years, so I'm giving him a pass on the whole "tipped uterus" thing.) As has been said, many women have a tipped or tilted uterus, and it doesn't always cause problems. I have never had to change my diet in my life, so it's an interesting struggle. I've had enough salad the past six weeks to last me a lifetime! :) BUT, if you are having the same kinds of problems I had, and your uterus is tilted, then perhaps try to cut the gluten and dairy out? I do not have any idea about why my uterus is tilted, though. I was always under the impression that this was how I was "made." Try not to jump to any conclusions at this point. Do you have bowel problems or is it other pain that you are trying to diagnose? Julie
