Re: Question about pain,pain pills & workingFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Mar 29 07:15:23 2007
Hi there- I completely understand! I work full- time, too and it has become an utter struggle to make it through each day...sometimes, it is a struggle to make it in at all. The pain I have increases the longer I sit, so by the end of the day, I am miserable. I have fevers all the time, so I have chills sometimes, I sweat a lot, and am miserable with that, too..then the nausea, leg pain and back pain. Lets not forget the FATIGUE! I am having surgery next month and will be off on medical leave under the FMLA for about 6 weeks..I hope this helps, I really do. As for what I do to make it through the day at work...If the pain is terrible, I will take a pain pill..otherwise, motrin, pretty much around the clock ( it is rare that motrin works though ).. I go to the bathroom a lot..I have terrible urine frequency. I take vitamin C (1000mg a day) and a B-Complex vitamin..I have worn the therma heat patch to work, too and they do work really well..they just seem to be bulky on the body..so it depends if I have meetings that day...etc. If I am just sitting at my desk all day..I keep it on. You can also bring in a heating pad and use it, if you work at a desk and sit all day..I have done that, too. I just try to get through...and on the days that I cant I work a 1/2 day if it is possible... I am always worried about taking too much time off or what my bosses attitude is...it should not be that way when someone is sick. I have had some problems with co-workers attitudes towards the time I am off..or a million questions about why I had medical leave! People can be nosey at work and I don't like...it adds more stress and stress makes the disease worse. IF, I was able to quit and take time to tend to my health...I would do it in a SECOND! No doubt about it! Or, if I could work a FLEXIBLE part time job...FLEXIBLE being the key word..until I am feeling better I would. The days at work when I am at my worst, the fevers with the chills and sweating, the pain, leg pain and back pain...nausea..is a NIGHTMARE! I have sat at my desk crying over all if it many times (secretly of course)..the tears would just come....It should not be that way. Hope this helps...I guess I vented a bit too.... Just know you are not alone out there struggling through your work day..
