I had to do a bowel prep for my second lap and was surprised as well. I have to say, it wasn't pleasant, but not nearly as bad as I expected. Depending on what your doctor recommends makes a difference as well.

I didn't have to drink anything for mine, or take any laxatives. I had to do an enema. But, I can tell you, after having to have a sigmoidoscopy and have to drink the stuff to clean you out...I'd rather do the enema.

I had to do it between 7-10pm the night before surgery, and wasn't allowed any food or liquids after midnight.

Also, unlike the drinking, the enema for the most part empties you out in one clean swoop and you're done. Not to be too graphic or anything!

I bought a simple over the counter fleets enema at Walmart!
