Amazing Doctor in L.A.

Hi Girls,

I had my appt with the Repoductive Endocrinologist this morning. I think I am in love with the guy because he is so sweet and attentive and really cares about his patients and just totally listens. I have to share, sorry...

They took me in and the nurse did the usual but then typed all of my info and printed it out, immediately the doc's P.A. came in and sat with me for about 20 mins gathering background. I was talking fast because I figured I should cut to the chase. She touched my hand and said, "Cari, slow down, take all the time you need and give me every detail, we are here for you." While I was giving her the gory details of my endo life, the doc came in to introduce himself and shook my hand and said he would be waiting for me next door. The P.A. finished and left and the doc came right in and talked to me. He had actually READ my entire chart, questionnaire, and history and knew everything I had writtend down. I had assumed most docs don't do that because usually you have to tell them things that are already written in your history. He then took me into his office where there were lovely cushy-comfy chairs and the P.A. sat in with us and he talked to me for well over an hour. He then showed me a power point he was putting together on endo and treatments etc. I was blown away by his humanity and patience.

He was honest, said I should really give Lupron a try and then in six months he will do another lap and probably remove my offending ovary. He agreed that my left ovary (the source of most of my pain) needed to come out but insurance companies don't like that anymore so we will try it with Lupron (yuk) and then have a hysterectomy/oopherectomy because Lupron is only a temporary band aid but it does shrink the lesions a bit which makes removal relatively complete when the lap is repeated. He said he is pretty certain that I have Adenomyosis but will have to look to be sure. He said most docs miss it because it hides in the wall of your uterus but I was exhibiting classic symptoms. He also gave me a referral for massage therapy and accupuncture.

The thing is this, he took the time to listen. The treatment options are basically the same but it was his attitude and willingness to help and to understand that made it so special. There are really docs who seem to care out there and I seem to be lucky enough to have stumbled on one.

If anyone in the Los Angeles area needs a good doc, let me know and I will give you his name/number.
