Sue- So sorry to hear that your daughter has joined our ranks. I was
also diagnosed in my early teen years and the best advice that i can
give you is to be supportive and educate both yourself and your daughter
about all treatment options and make sure that she has a doctor that she
feels confident with and that she feels really listens to her. Also-
having gone through this while in High School...i would advise letting
her teachers in on what she is going through. I just cant tell you how
much i hated hearing..."it's just cramps, jazzercise will help." durning
gym class. If they dont know what's going on they can't do anything to
accomodate her needs. Also...i've found that planning for the worst and
hoping for the best is the best attitude to take. She may be frightened
about infertility and if she's not then she will be at some point in the
future. Just know that while this may be an issue it is not allways the
case. Only time will tell. I wish the best of luck to both you and
your daughter during this uphill battle. -JJ
