Kristy, My first piece of advice would be to call someone at your insurance company and find out what it will take for them to cover the visit to the guy at the fertility clinic. There are often appeals proceedures in place to get coverage for treatment with a specialist if there is none other available. It may require alot of wrangling on the phone and plenty of paper work. The docotr's office can also code your appointment/ diagnosis to reflect that he/she did not treat you for fertility at your visit. Mine coded it as a gynecological proceedure, not fertility. I am going through this right now. I went ahead and paid out of pocket for the initial visit and it was the best thing I did. Dealing with the insurance is a pain, but if you go see this guy he may be able to give you some leads on where to go from here. So, even if you can't see him on a regular basis he may be able to recommend a really good Obgyn as well as other specialists you may need to see for potential diagnosis of other issues contributing to your pain. My appointment was $450. I can understand the hit to the wallet! It may also be possible to call and see if he will review your records and do a phone consult for a lesser fee. As far as your Obgyn goes. I know it is maddening to be sent for tests when you feel like you already know what the results are going to be. I just try to think of it as proving your case. If you go to the ortho and he finds nothing (as mine did), then you are armed with that information when you go back to the gyn. Then your doctor knows that she has explored all of the other options, especially if she is thinking you might need another lap. I think it just helps them convince themselves of what exactly they are dealing with. Just some ideas. I wish you luck. Alyson
