Re: MRI for endo.??From: D (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Feb 24 13:11:57 2007
Sorry, but endo typically cannot be seen on an MRI. If there are deep pockets or other lesions that are large enough, they may show up, but most are not large enough. It's possible that it may reveal something that was missed at surgery, but saying that an MRI is "like opening a textbook to see endo" is an exaggeration. MRIs are also expensive - I had pelvic and abdominal MRIs this past fall that revealed nothing, and for which my HMO paid about $4000 a piece (yet they won't send out of network to a specialist). For me the MRIs were helpful in that they ruled out other things that might have been causing my problems, but they didn't diagnose anything, either.
