Re: Is surgery a good option or can it be bad?

Michelle, In my opinion the risks of surgery are that the more trauma the area receives the greater chance of developing scar tissue in response. As far as the tubal pregnancies, I know that can be caused by endo blocking the tubes, and would imagine the same holds true for adhesions/scar tissue blocking the tubes. I have had two surgeries now and will probably have a third at some point. Your payment requirement is just going to depend on your policy. It is hard to estimate that. I have an HMO and my copay for each surgery was $200.00. If you have an 80/20 policy, that would mean you are responsible for paying 20% of the surgery cost (I think the entire cost of my surgery was $12,000.00). Again, its really going to depend on the policy. I don't know that I would put myself through the surgery just to do it unless your doctor really thinks that it is going to provide you some benefit.
