menstrual bleeding from rectum/rectal ulcer, and symptom queries

Hi, this is my first post on here.

I'm seeing a gynaecologist and he highly suspects endo, but wants to try and get away with not giving me a lap by seeing if medication can help first.

I'm 27 and currently taking norethisterone 5mg 3x daily. Been taking this for about 3 months now and although my periods have stoppped and still getting lots of pain so I'm going to ask to try Mirena. I believe I'm still ovulating as I still get ovualtion pain and ovulation discharge.

I was taking depo-provera for contraception for years and I got on really well with it, but stopped it because of the risk of osteoporosis. When I stopped it all my period symptoms came back and hit me really hard. I was never told my periods were problematic until I stopped the depo-provera, so I suppose I'm glad I stopped it otherwise I wouldn't have know I might have endo.

My mum has endo and Mirena has changed her life for the better, so I'm hoping it'll work for me too - fingers crossed. I thought my nightmare periods were normal becasue my mum had the same problems, so I never knew different.

The pain I get is the usual stabbing pain and other, but I get sciatia down my left leg too, which is so painful when it happens that I can't walk. My left side seems to be the worst for pain. What can cause the sciatica? Is it endo on a nerve or something?

I also get numbness and tingling in my limbs, and often wake in the morning not being able to feel my hands and legs, and I smack them to get the circulation going, then I get pins and needles then eventually they feel normal again. Could this be related to endo or caused by it?

I cannot have intercourse because it's too painful, even foreplay is too painful and leaves me in pain for days. I feel like I've been kicked by a horse after, and I get this sort of pain at other times each month too.

I also get joint and muscle pain which I know is because of the endo and nothing else. I have read on here that many women are getting this so that has put my mind at rest.

Does anyone get pain so bad sometimes that their eyes hurt? Like they're being knawed away?

I'm getting pleurisy type thing/croaking noises at the bottom of my lungs where the diagphragm is. It is period cycle related. I've read you can get endo in the lungs. This is scary. I get this thing too where my diaphragm goes into spasm causing my body to twitch very badly like a seizure. I was seen by a neurologist and they ruled out epilepsy.

My last couple of periods i have a tiny amount of blood form my nasal passages and it looked a bit like menstrual blood. It was a very small amount and I don't want to think about it too much as it's probably nothing, but can you get endo in the nasal passages?

I had a colonoscopy last year and I was on my period at the same time. The gastroenterologist said I had a bleeding rectal ulcer and they couldn't explain why. I was in hopsital for suspected Crohn's disease at the time (which I luckily haven't got) and they sent a gynae to see me and now I see them in outpatients. My gynae says this is likely endo in the rectum. I get menstrual blood from the rectum, and it only bleeds when I'm having my period so I kind of know it's endo in there. It was getting worse with each period and heavier, but luckily the norethisterone has stopped it.

I have a query about this 'endo in the rectum' . I'm wondering if this could mean my endo is quite severe and has progressed far, or could endo occur in the rectum when the disease is quite mild? I'm just wondering what I'm looking at here with my situation, whether it could mean mild or worse endo. I really want to try and stay away from having a lap if I can. My mum has managed fine without one. Her symptoms were so bad too before mirena, her back would 'give way' all the time leaving her bedridden. She was hospitalised at age 18 for what they thought was appendicitis but it turned out to be 'bad period pain'. I'm just hoping that I have mirena like my mum and be fine and well and be able to get on with my life! (I'm really hoping for an easy ride as everyone is!)

I also get frequent urination often which keeps me awake a lot because I have to get up for the toilet. I think it's just my uterus pressing on my bladder, is there any medication to control this?

I had a transvaginal ultrasound just before Christmas but haven't had the results. I can't get an appointment until April for the results (NHS in UK). The technician wouldn't tell me what she could see. I said 'can you see anything?', she screwed her face up and said 'I can't see anything that would give me cause for great concern, but i can't tell you the results'. I said 'so it's clear and there's nothing wrong', and screwed her face up again which worried me, saying there's nothing to give her cause for great concern and my gynae will need to interpret the results. I got the impression she meant she couldn't see any tumours or anything. The ultrasound hurt so badly, felt like i'd been kicked by a horse with it for days after. She was taking lots of pics of my rectum, pushing the probe that way which really hurt. And lots of pics of my left side come to think about it. I hope I get the results somehow before my appointment in April. I'm getting my GP to fit the mirena as I don't want to wait until April.

I get aneamic with each period, my gums go very very pale. Since I've been on norethisterone, I get mildly aneamic when I should be having my period. I'm not having periods with this medication but I don't understand why I'm getting the anemia. Could I still be bleeding else where maybe? I get all the same menstrual cycle symptoms on the norethisterone, but not as bad. I'm having a cycle it seems?

I'm so sorry for all the questions and info, I hope no-one's too tired and in too much pain to read through all this as I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks everyone.
