Re: growing endometrioma

I have not posted for a while, so am not sure if people have responded. I went through something similar. I had an endometrioma that grew really fast too. I had gone to the ER for extreme pain and then it was a small cyst. Six months later, I was peeing incessantly and had a pressure like feeling. I always had a lot of pelvic pain so I thought it was just a bladder infection. I had a good primary and so I had an ultrasound. My ovary was so swollen she was afraid it would twist and become an emergency. I also had cysts on the swollen ovary.

Honestly, I wouldn't mess with waiting. The bigger it gets the harder it is too treat. I had a full incision/exploratory laparotomy because of my ovary's size(it was 12cm with two 5cm cysts). My ovary wasn't able to be saved (I was 21 at the time).

Also any adhesions or problems going on with your ovaries that isn't taken care of increases the chances of miscarry or even ectopic pregnancy (which is dangerous). Having surgery may actually increase your fertility. Try to find a surgeon who does excisional surgery and treats endo often. Experienced endo surgeons should be able to help you laproscopically (is this a word!) versus a laparotomy.

Good luck, Michelle
