Any helpful Advice?From: Tamara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jan 23 16:04:05 2007
I am new to this group, so hello all. I was diagnosed with endometriosis a few years ago, I'm 33, and have had it since I was 14. I just started doing research online a couple of months ago, don't know why I waited so long. I have 6 sisters and we all cramp really bad, my mom used to also. I'm the youngest and am the only one who has taken the first step to see a dr about it. For years I thought it was just a part of being a woman, a symptom of pms. After making several great friends over the years I've come to realize that I 'am' different, they hardly have any pain during their monthly menstration and no pain during sex. I, on the other hand, am doubled over for at least 2 days a month. My dr did tell me yrs ago that the pain will decrease significantly after I have children. Not so sure about that, I have a 2yr old and a 9mo old. I have moved so have a different dr now. The pain is the same, if not worse, it's truly unreal! I am scheduled for a pap in a month and will talk to my dr then to see what he suggests, but am scared to death. Being pregnant on and off for the last 3yrs and going through all the hormonal changes has really taken a toll on my marraige so this is why I am asking for some advise from anyone who is willing to give.....I am very scared about the treatment options because I feel like my postpartum depression has finally subsided. Does anyone have any clue what treatment options will not lead me further into more hormonal changes?? It's everything I can do to take great care of my babies while going through my periods every month (lasting a week). I just don't want to jeoperdize having more hormonal problems, my family doesn't deserve that. Having 2 girls, I really need to get this under control for them, in case they have inherited it. Thank you for listening and will take any advise! Tamara
