I'm really sorry to hear how bad things are for you right now, I don't
have children but I do have constant chronic pain and I know how mean it
can make me at times. That is the thing about pain that you can't
control everything it does to your personality, or I can't anyway.
There are some things you might try that could help, if you haven't
already. Finding an endo specialist who can thoroughly excise endo is
the best chance for long-term relief. Many docs burn endo off with a
laser or electrocautery, but the results are poor because they can't go
deep enough to get it all. Endo can be excised from just about
anywhere, but it cannot be burned off of sensitive areas like the
bladder and bowel. There's a link to an "EndoDocs" yahoo group at the
end of this message, it's a good place to search for a good doctor. You
also might ask your obgyn or PCP for a referral to a pain management
doctor. Endo can be extremely painful, and obgyns are often not
comfortable prescribing and managing the meds needed to deal with it -
that's what pain doctors do. My pain doctor has me on a drug patch
that's helped a lot, and it's nice not to have to take so many pills.
About the colonoscopy - it will only show endo if it's actually
penetrated the bowel wall. My understanding is that is pretty rare,
endo is more likely to be on the outer surface of the bowel or on
something else near the bowel. I don't mean that you shouldn't have
one, they are important for ruling out other problems but colonoscopies
rarely help diagnose endo.
