adviceFrom: Samar (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jan 16 02:06:05 2007
I have had bad menstrual cramps for as long as I remember, but they seem to have gotten worse recently (intense lower back pain & pain in the thighs, and occasional spurts of pain in the stomach). Accordingly, I went to see a gyno about 4 months ago and was diagnosed with endometriosis. I had the laparoscopic surgery within that week, after which I was given a clean bill of health. But, due to the nature of endometriosis (i.e. unknown why or when it could return) I was told by my doctor that if I wanted to have children (which me and my husband defiantly want), we need to start trying asap. We have taken the doctor’s advice and have been trying to conceive for the last 4 months but have not yet been successful. Also, I feel like my menstrual cramps have gone back to normal (i.e. the month after surgery, I had minimal pain when I got my period, but since then it has been a steady increase of pain and now I’m at the point where it is just as intense as before the surgery). I have two concerns: (1) Could the endometriosis be back already? (2) Could my not getting pregnant be related to it? I have an appointment with my doctor in a couple of weeks, but I just wanted to see if anyone out there has gone through something similar and if so, what advice/tips/comments you could give me. Thanks.
