Susanna,
You first doctor may have been considering the endometriosis affect
purely from a structural poit of view. If you did not have it on your
ovaries or tubes she may consider that it is not physically blocking
your conception or pregnancy. There is some evidence that the presence
of endometriosis creates an unfavorable biochemical environment that
affects your ability to conceive and maintain a pregnancy.
Unfortunately cautery is not the most effective way to remove
endometriosis. It essentially burns the top of the implant off and can
leave the "root" behind to regrow. Has this new doctor made any
suggestions of how he thinks you should treat the endometriosis?
I would just do some research if he suggests any drugs, and if he
suggests surgery again make sure to discuss with him what method of
removal he uses and how experienced he is with that.
There is an excellent book Endometriosis: A key to Healing and Fertility
through Nutrition (you can get it on Amazon and through the
Endometriosis Association). It discusses dietary changes you can make
to help create a better biochemical environment and hopefully assist
conception.
