Hi, I had my 3rd baby almost 6 months ago, a healthy baby girl,Rebeka, I had a forceps delivery and 2 previous c-sections before that. It was my choice for the vaginal birth after 2 sections. After the birth I had retained product and haemmorraged 10 days postpartum. I was admitted to maternity and discharged the next day with anti-biotics, no D&C was performed. I attended the maternity unit on 3 other occasions complaining of flu like symptoms and fresh red lochia up until 6 weeks postpartum. Each time they sent me home and each time I ended up in my Gp's office with worse symptoms and going home with anti-biotics. 9 weeks postpartum I was admitted to the womens health unit with flu like symptoms, fever vomiting and diarreah and offensive discharge. iwas diagnosed with endometritis and given iv antibiotics. An ultrasound was done and I still had reatined product, again no D&C performed due to the infection. The bleeding settled down after each course of the anti biotics but starts again a week later and doesn't stop and evetually becomes brown and offensive. A few weeks after I was discharged I went back to my GP with offensive pus like discharge (sorry for the detail) She gave me anti-biotics and that was that. On Monday 18th December I referred myself to the womans health unit in my local hospital with fresh red spotting and a dirty brown/black discharge with large clots. This discharge didn't always come with spotting. Severe abdominal pain, which was not like menstrual pain, but more of an ache which radiates around my lower back and a comsistemt pain in my rigt side. The registrar there done a pv exam and said my uterus was bulky at the right side. She took some swabs and again the discharge was dirty brown and pus like. She thought I had an infection, but the swabs came back clear. I was given more iv anti-biotics and an ultrasound scan which showed my uterus was enlarged and there was no retained product. I was sent home 3 days later. I have an appointment to go back and see this consultant on 18th January for laparoscopy sterilisation and hysteroscopy D&C. His report that I have to hand in to my GP surgery says diagnosis is DUB Endometri osis?? I should add that there is a week out of four where the bleeding settles down and there is very light spotting. Then the spotting gets heavier for 2 days and then flood gates open for a few days and then I continue to spot fresh blood along with thick mucousy and dirty brown discharge. (again I am sorry for the detail). I have alot of pain leading up to and during my period (if that is what I am having) I feel very unwell, dizzy, sick. Nothing takes away the pain. I also have large clots throughout. I am so worried about this as it has been going on a long time now and I don't know what to think. My Mother had stage 1 cervical cancer when she was 26. She was given a hysterectomy and is still with us today. I am worried about this also, I cant have a pap smear done as I am bleeding all the time!! Do these symptoms sound similar to anyone at all? I don't have a lot of faith in this new consultant I have been given and I have managed to get an appointment with my previous ob/gyn I had during my last pregnancy as I feel he is aware of my history and does have a better reputation. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
