I don't think anyone intended to advocate that one pull their stitches out. It does happen on occasion that the tail of the stitch pops out of the incision site like a little flag. The rest of the stitch dissolves under the skin as it is supposed to and leaves the little tail barely resting under the surface of the skin (it happened following both of my surgeries). In my case a very gentle nudge dislodged the tail end and allowed my incision to heal where it had been sticking out. This came about weeks after my surgery when my incision sites were healed with exception of this one little thread sticking out. Obviously if your stitches are still in place you should leave them alone while your incision sites heal. Alyson
