Re: Question about laparoscopy incisions/suturesFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Dec 30 03:48:10 2006
Pls ladies do not pull out sutures on your own. You can do more harm by doing so. If you have an issue with one of the sutures bothering you go to your dr to have them take it out. They have special scissors for trimming and taking them out if need be. The sutures if they are dissolvable do not fall out. The dissolve in to the skin. Julie, if this suture bothers you pls make an appt with your dr so that they can tend to it. Also, I would get in sooner b/c that is too long of a time span between surgery and post-op appt. The suture is there to keep the incision closed so that the areas that were cut open can heal. The reason for the steristrips is to help protect those incisions that are healing from infection from outside sources.
