Re: questing Information about Lupron and Endo SpecialistFrom: Pam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Dec 29 03:06:43 2006
Hi Danielle, I am not sure if I should be giving any advice at this point. I had my laparoscopy done on Nov. 14. I had/have Endo, which was removed by laser, and also a cyst drained from my right ovary. My GYN had problems with removing all of the Endo because he stated that it was located on some nerves but he felt that he removed most of it. I started my period on Nov. 26 (my first period since the surgery) and it was very bad. I was told by the doctor that the surgery itself can cause women to have adnormal periods for the first couple of months. (not sure about how true that is, just what I was told) I started taking a bcp (Seasonique) on the 26 when I started my period so I haven't had a period since then. But the one I did have was very rough. I was in a lot of pain from where I was on my period and also from where I was still healing from the surgery. I have actually had a lot of problems since my surgery. I still have the same pain (pelvic, back, etc.) that I had before I had the surgery. The only problem is now I have new pain besides the other pain. I started having pain in my vaginal area and burning whenever I go to pee about two weeks ago. I have had problems being able to pee, since my surgery which still isn't any better. But, anyway, I went to see another doctor on Wednesday because I seem to be having trouble getting in touch with my normal GYN. She told me that I have blood in my urine and I didn't have any blood when she did the exam. So she started me on antiobiotics. She thinks I have an infection. I was on antiobiotics about two weeks after my surgery since I was having problems peeing and they made me sick so I only took them for a couple of days. But I had my urine checked and it was fine at that time so I don't really know. I do have hot flashes now but I had them before I had the surgery done. I also had the leg pain but I only had that during my periods so I don't have the leg pain anymore. My doctor also wants me to start taking the Lupron shot. I have done a bunch of research and decided that I did not want to do that. I have anxiety/depression problems also. From the research I did and knowing my family history, I don't think taking the Lupron shot is something that would be a good option for me. I do suggest that you do your own research. Find out for yourself what Lupron is and about the side effects, because most doctors (not all of course) will leave some things out and not tell you.I have heard both negative and positive stories of taking the shot. To be honest, only you know what your body can and cannot handle. I posted on here requesting information about the Lupron shot, which is how you got in touch with me. I would go through the post and read what people have replied back to me. I received some wonderful web-sites and information that was very helpful. I think that would be a good place to start if you haven't already done the research. So I guess really what I am trying to say is that everyone's surgery is different but please know that you are not alone when it comes to feeling the same as you did before. (TRUST ME) Also don't take or do anything that you are not sure about, even if your doctor thinks you should. Like I said earlier, only you know your body and what it can handle. I am currently in the process of locating a specialist to review my medical file. I do not feel very confident in the GYN that I currently have and the closest specialist is three hours away from where I live so I am getting my information together and sending it to a couple of specialist to get their opinions. I believe that my husband and I may have decided to go ahead and have children. We are still discussing the issue. We are both 24. I am in college and he is the only one working for right now. So we are still talking about it. I have been told by many people (even the doctor I saw on Wednesday) that the best time to conceive is after having the surgery because most of the Endo is gone. I will just have to wait and see. I know how frustrating it can be. I have been through a lot these past few months. I have met some really nice people on this forum who have given me a lot of information and advice. They also are there when you need to just let things off your chest. So just remember you are not alone and if you have any other questions or just need to talk, you can e-mail me (precious21082@comcast.net). I know that being a good listener is very helpful and I am a good listener, maybe not the best at giving advice but I can listen. I wish you all the best and hopefully things will start turning around for the best and you will be pain free for the new year. Let me know if you need to talk. Wishing for pain free days for ALL...........Pam At Thu, 28 Dec 2006, Danielle wrote:
