Re: questing Information about Lupron and Endo Specialist - to DanielleFrom: D (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Dec 29 00:33:10 2006
Hi Danielle - It hasn't been very long since your surgery, so I think that at least part of your pain is from the healing process? Did your doctor remove all the endo they found during the laparoscopy? Did they do excision, or was it burned off with a laser? If your pain continues, it may be that your doctor left some endo behind because they didn't see it, or didn't feel confident about removing it, or if they used a laser it often comes back because they have a difficult time burning deep enough to get rid of it all. Sometimes doctors don't know about the many appearances endo can take, and atypical endo gets missed. Leg pain is also a common symptom in women who have endo - there are a number of nerves that run through the pelvis and down the legs, and apparently they are often effected. Did your doctor remove the cyst, or just drain it? As far as I know, it's better if they do a cystectomy and actually cut it out - then it can't fill back up again. Have you considered seeing an endometriosis specialist? These doctors deal almost exclusively with endo patients and are experts at excision - they are quite different from the average ob/gyn when it comes to endo. If you search this site you can find names of some recommended doctors, also there's a yahoo group just for finding endo docs: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EndoDocs/ Lupron is a temporary solution at best, and at worst you could have debilitating side effects that won't go away - finding an expert to remove as much of the disease as possible will get you much better odds of finding a resolution without recurrence! Please do a lot of research before you make a decision to take this drug (or not). I also hope you have told your doctor about all this! If not, please do! Hope this helps, D.
