Re: Questions regarding ExcisionFrom: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Dec 28 15:50:28 2006
Hello Tara--One thing you might ask is if your Dr. ever does post-surgical medical treatments like Lupron. I had laparoscopic surgery on November 16, they made three incisions and the surgery took three hours, but they weren't able to remove all of the endometriosis on my bowel. The doctor told my husband I have a severe case but I haven't talked to her yet myself. So anyway, after the surgery while I was still waking up and full of painkillers, a nurse came into my room and asked me to sign a consent form for a 3-month Lupron injection. The nurse wasn't able to tell me anything about this drug (said she'd never heard of it), and stupidly I gave my permission without knowing anything myself. Well, the side effects suck and if I had known they might want to do this I would have researched it and probably refused the injection. Even if I had allowed it, it would have been nice to know what I was letting myself in for. No one had ever mentioned Lupron treatment to me before I got the operation and I wasn't prepared to make a rational decision about it. Good luck, I hope everything goes well with your surgery.
