Question about laparoscopy incisions/sutures

Hello everyone--I know I should ask my doctor this but I have called the office repeatedly and no one will ever call me back. I have my first preoperative appt on January 17, so I haven't seen a doctor since my surgery.

I had a laparoscopy on November 16 and three incisions were made in my abdomen. The incisions were closed with tape and I was instructed to leave the tape alone until it fell off, which I did. However, the nurse did not mention sutures, and there is a knot of white thread that looks like silk embroidery floss sticking out of the bottom of the bellybutton incision. My question: Am I supposed to get this suture removed, or does it dissolve, or what? Has anyone else had one of these stitches, and what did they do with it? It doesn't hurt or anything, I'm just curious and impatient to ask the doctor. Thanks a lot for reading my question.
