Re: Vaginal HysterectomyFrom: Mindy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Dec 28 09:33:34 2006
First off I would like to thank everyone for their information that you have provided for me. Leslie to answer your question about why he is doing a vaginal. I only have stage I endo & it seems to be under control right now. I have had 2 prior abdominal surgeries for cysts & an ovary removal. I have also had a lap. My last surgery was a lap & surprisingly enough I didn't have any scar tissue. My doc is thinking very positive in that I still don't have any & if I do it is really minimal. I am suffering from adenomyosis really bad. This is why I'm having the hysterectomy. He is going to leave my left ovary (being the only one that I have left) so I don't have to worry about HRT. My mom had a hyst about 8 years ago & she is having a really hard time with her HRT. So I don't want to be in the same boat as her. My doc did say that if I do have a lot of scar tissue then he would have to go ahead & open me up. So I prefer that he try vaginal first & if it doesn't work out then he can do the abdominal hysterectomy. I do believe this is a case by case kind of thing. Amy thanks so much for the website link. I will definately check it out. Again thank you everyone for your input I really appreciate. Please keep me in your thoughts on Feb 20th. I am really nervous about this surgery. I think I'm more nervous now than I have been for any of my other ones. I believe this is because I have two precious little ones at home now & I didn't before. Thanks again.
