Re: Does any one know what to do about this? From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Dec 8 10:30:05 2006
Many medications must be taken in a method that gradually achieves a therapeutic drug level and the method must be followed in reverse to gradually lower the blood level of the drug - these medications are not narcotic, habit-forming or addictive - they are powerful drugs that work by altering the body's chemical balance. I amend my original statement - "you will not become addicted to the anti-anxiety or anti-depressant" with this caution - some people who may already have an anxiety or depressive disorder may find themselves truly needing to continue the medication - many patients will have to try 2 or 3 different types of medications and dosage levels before they find the one that works. Does the police force have an across the board policy banning the use of ALL types of anti-anxiety / anti-depressants? It seems rather discriminatory in policy as some these types of drugs generally do not carry warnings that would preclude the normal daily life of anyone, even cops. I can't think of a more stressful job for a woman to have while dealing with endo & lupron --- please, do yourself a favor and get this dealt with before you really get in a bad, bad way.
