Re: Lap sites....bandages....bloody......removal???From: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Dec 4 17:55:16 2006
Tiffany, The first bathroom visit after surgery I think tends to be pretty painful. Your insides have gone through alot and your bowels are all part of that area. There could be an element of nervous anticipation as well ;-) As for the bandages, I would think (and I have no medical evidence, just my suggestion) that you would want to try to get those off of there so that there is no bacteria growing under there. My doc had me keep a bit of neosporin on my belly button. There are some swabs that you may be able to find at the drug store that are meant for bandage adhesive removal. If you can't find those, use rubbing alcohol. Just take the swab or a cotton ball and alcohol, peel up a bit of the bandaid and rub the swab between the skin and sticky edge of the bandaid as you pull. It will help release the adhesive without pulling on the skin so bad. Alyson
