Re: Can Endo grow while on birthcontrol pills (3 months in a row)?

Emilie,

I know you said that your doctor cut out your endo. My concern is that you may have had microscopic endo implants that your doctor was unable to cut out because they are so deeply embedded and practically invisible. It is these implants that I have read tend to cause the most pain even though they are so small. Like you I have been on continuous birth control pills. I am guessing you have a period 4 times a year b/c of breakthrough bleeding. Ask you doctor but I have been told that any bleeding is not a good thing when you have an endometriosis diagnosis. Because if you have microscopic implants then this bleeding and estrogen can "feed" the endometriosis. I'm not so sure about the burning you described. However all of the gastro problems is very common. I had a flexible sigmoidoscopy to rule out problems with my colon and they found nothing (I've read many entries on here with others who have said the same thing) yet I have many symptoms that seem to indicate IBS. My doctor put me on Zelnorm to see if I responded to it and I did. It helped alot with my bloating and constipation. I am no longer on Zelnorm but I have changed my diet to one that is for IBS as well as Endo. They both recommend alot of the same diet changes. I would suggest you buy some books or research the internet. Try altering your diet for about a month or two and see if you get results. You may be very surprised. I have cut out caffiene, lowered my sugar intake, cut back on fatty foods, cut way back on dairy products and increased my fruit and vegetables. I also didn't get enough water. If you increase your fiber intake it is necessary to also increase your water intake to aid with digestion. Hope some of this helps. I suspect that your endo is back but I'm not a doctor...Erica
