Re: advise on a second LaparoscopyFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Nov 27 09:21:40 2006
Go to one of the endo specialists. There is a yahoo group http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EndoDocs/ you can ask there for doctor suggestions, and search previous posts. Your doctor is right, and you are lucky that she admits that you need a specialist - most specialists are "out of network" so having your doctor's backing helps with the insurance. There is definitely good reason to have another lap - provided it is with a competent doctor who will excise all of your endo. Most women who have numerous repeated surgeries are having their endo burned off with a laser, also called "ablation". It can burn healthy flesh, and leave carbon deposits, and the doctor often leaves endo behind because they can't tell how deep it goes. Also, most laser surgeons will not remove endo from bladder, bowels, or other difficult areas. In other words, all laparoscopies are not equal! You need to find a skilled excision surgeon. Good luck!
