If you are really unsure, you can always get a 2nd opinion - you do not have to go through with this surgery!

Some things to talk to your doctor about - is he going to do a cystectomy and excise the cyst completely, or just drain it? Without the cystectomy, chances are good (bad?) that is will come back, it will just fill up again. Also, is he going to look for endo in other places and remove it? The answer should be YES! He should be removing every last speck, no matter where it is. And finally, is he doing excision, or burning it with a laser? Excision is very much the preferred method. Many women who have their endo burnt off with a laser (ablation) end up back in pain within months because the doctors cannot get it all by burning - they can't tell how deep they need to go, and they may damage healthy tissue with carbon deposits and burns.

He may need to do a laparotomy because of adhesions and scarring. In any case, you need to talk to him now!!

Best of luck!
