Re: In so much pain I am at the end of my rope...any of you suffer from extreme back pain?

I have a lot of lower back and hip pain that I also think is from endo. There is such a thing as sciatic endo, where endo is on the sciatic nerve. I have had three laps and never been told that endo could be seen around my sciatic nerve but I also don't know if they would be looking for it or even see it since I am not sure how much is visible during surgery. My doctor has also mentioned "referred pain" to me before. I have a lot of pain on my right side but my left ovary is in far worse shape, yet the left side rarely hurts. He said the endo on my left could be hitting on some nerves causing the pain on the right, or the "referred" pain. I wonder if this could also be the case with my back and hip. There are days that I somewhat limp because the pain is radiating down my leg. I have not injured myself in any way so I can only assume this pain must come from the endo. When I mention it to my doctor he just seems to act like any pain I am in could be caused from endo and doesn't seem suprised. I also know I have endo in my cul-de-sac, which causes a lot of pain and tenderness right on my pelvic and tailbones. I wonder too if the endo in this location could be causing the back pain.

Does the acupunture help? Have you thought about chiropractic care? My insurance covers this so I go to a chiro a few times a month, as I have some upper neck issues. Part of my treatment includes massage. I find this has helped some with my back pain-at least helps to have the massage loosen up some of the tightness. Just a thought. I also live on the heating pad and when I can't be home laying down, Therma Care patches. There are ones for both the back and for menstrual. Like wearing a portable heating pad that stays warm for 8 hours at a time. Try them-they save me when I can't curl up in bed.

Hang in there! Feel free to email me privately if you want to talk more.

Hugs! Amy Meyer
